Timber Cladding - Design and installation for optimum performance

The aim of this Woodknowledge Wales event is to introduce the new external timber cladding standards and to highlight important durability considerations. The event will enable participants to understand how to successfully specify, detail and use timber rain screens and should be of benefit to clients, architects, specifiers, planning and building control officers as well as sawmills and timber suppliers.

Timber is increasingly being used as a high performance rain screen. It is a durable low carbon solution that can also be grown and processed in Wales. This event brings together leading industry experts with detailed knowledge of critically important design and performance issues.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

By rail: Come out of the station forecourt and turn left up Holyhead Road. After 50 metres turn left up a narrow lane, Llwybr Cwyfaint. This will bring you out onto Ffriddoedd Road. Turn left and walk 100 metres with Coleg Menai on your left. Cross the road and take the drive up to Neuadd Reichel (signposted).

By bus: The No. 5 bus (Llandudno – Caernarfon) passes directly in front of the drive up to Neuadd Reichel. Get off at the Coleg Menai stop, cross the road and take the drive up to Neuadd Reichel (signposted).

By road: either exit the A55 at Junction 11 or Junction 9

From Junction 11, drive into the city centre without making any turns, follow the one way system round to the station on your left. Continue on up the hill and turn left at the small roundabout outside Morrisons supermarket. Follow this road for 300 metres until you see Coleg Menai on your left. Turn right up the drive to Neuadd Reichel (signposted). There is car parking outside Neuadd Reichel.

From Junction 9, follow signs to Ysbyty Gwynedd (Gwynedd Hospital). Do not turn into the hospital but continue straight ahead for 1 kilometre. At the first roundabout, turn left up the hill (Belmont Road). After 250 metres, turn right onto Ffriddoedd Road. When you see Coleg Menai sites on your right, turn left up the drive to Neuadd Reichel (signposted).

Parking. There is parking directly in front of the building (including blue badge parking). Depending on how busy the Ffriddoedd site is, the parking can be limited. Please park anywhere on the residential site you can find a space, you can also use the entrance onto the Ffriddoedd site further down Ffriddoedd road and then walk through the site to Reichel, which is situated behind the sports centre, Canolfan Brailsford.
